Q: What file formats do you accept for sign printing?

A: We highly prefer vector file formats such as .EPS, .AI, or .PDF. These files allow us to scale your artwork to any size without losing crisp quality. If you only have raster files (.JPEG, .PNG, or .TIFF), they must be high-resolution (at least 300 DPI at the final print size) to avoid a blurry or pixelated result. [5, 6, 7, 8]

Q: What is the difference between vector and raster files?

A: Vector images use mathematical formulas instead of pixels. This means they can be blown up to the size of a billboard or a vehicle wrap while remaining perfectly sharp. Raster images (like photos or web graphics) are made of fixed pixels. If you try to enlarge a small website logo to fit a large outdoor sign, it will look blurry and pixelated. [9, 10]

Q: Do my files need to be in RGB or CMYK color mode?

A: Please design and save your files in CMYK color mode. RGB is designed for digital screens, while wide-format sign printers mix inks using the CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) process. Converting RGB files to CMYK can cause colors to look dull or shifted.

🔨 Materials & Sign Types

Q: What is ACM, and why is it used for outdoor signs?

A: ACM stands for Aluminum Composite Material (often referred to by brand names like Dibond). It features two thin sheets of solid aluminum bonded to a rigid plastic core. It is the industry standard for long-term outdoor signs because it is highly durable, flat, impact-resistant, and will never rust or warp like wood or cheap plastics. [11, 12, 13, 14, 15]

Q: What type of vinyl do you use for vehicle wraps?

A: We exclusively use premium cast vinyl for vehicle wraps and highly curved surfaces. Unlike cheaper calendared vinyl, cast vinyl is extremely thin, conforms seamlessly to deep curves, rivets, and bumpers, and will not shrink, lift, or peel away over time when exposed to the sun. [16, 17]

Q: What is the purpose of sign lamination?

A: Over-lamination adds a transparent, protective plastic film over your printed vinyl graphic. It acts like sunscreen for your sign, protecting the ink against harsh UV fading, weather elements, and physical scratches during transport and everyday wear. [18, 19]

📋 Ordering, Permits, & Installation

Q: Do I need a city permit for my business sign?

A: In most cases, yes. Most cities and counties require building and zoning permits for exterior signs, especially illuminated signs or large pylon signs. We can help you navigate your local zoning laws, provide engineered shop drawings, and assist you through the permit submission process before fabrication begins. [20, 21, 22, 23, 24]

Q: What does it mean if a sign is "UL Listed"?

A: A UL (Underwriters Laboratories) listing means that the electrical components, wiring, and power supplies of your illuminated sign have been tested and certified to pass strict national safety and fire standards. Most local building inspectors will not approve an illuminated sign unless it carries a UL safety label. [25]

Q: How should I prepare my vehicle before a wrap installation?

A: Your vehicle must be thoroughly washed and completely clean of dirt, mud, grease, and road grime at least 24 hours before your installation appointment. Please do not apply any waxes, ceramic coatings, or chemical protectants, as these will prevent the vinyl adhesive from bonding to the paint. [26]
